Architectural Graphic Standard
All imagery in this project was created from scans of a 1981 edition of Architectural Graphic Standards. This in part was an exploration into taking pre-existing design elements and turning them into something new.
If every note of music has already been created, then it is how we re-use these pieces of history that the sounds of the future will come to be. Similar to a DJ taking audio samples from a classic record, this project takes visual samples from a historically significant book.
Architecture is a profession with historical precedences dating back thousands of years. Web design, however, is a profession that is in its infancy. Here one of the most highly evolved visual languages of architectural graphics is presented in the form the youngest visual language; interactive motion graphics. By doing so this is as much a tribute to the sophistication and beauty of the original book, as it is a wish to be free of the notion of a graphic standard.
