Matsumoto-jo: A 16th Century Japanese castle

Project Description:
The work being submitted Matsumoto-jo: A 16th Century Japanese Castle is an interactive digital media project that can be either web or installation based. (for details on on-site installation see below). The work is an interactive virtual exploration of feudal Japan via a reconstruction of a 16th Century Japanese Castle. Viewers can navigate around the castle to see the exterior architecture, roll-over walls to peer inside, and fly into rooms inhabited by animated interactive historical figures. New media artist Jon Amakawa used 3D animation software to create the 3D models and environment, and then designed and programmed the interactive interface. At its essence Matsumoto-jo is a new media work of art that utilizes interactive 3D and video game media to present a convergence of art, architecture, artifacts, history and culture.
Installation Requirements:
As an interactive digital media installation, the work would be run on a computer (hidden from view) and displayed either on a touch screen flat panel display or by way of a projector.
Computer with at least a 2 ghz processor, 1 gig of Memory and a Graphics Card with at least 256 MB
Touch screen flat panel display or digital projector (in which case a keyboard input device would be required)
